Hour by hour the sun and the rain, the air and the rust, and the press of time running into centuries, play on the building inside and out and use it. Now open them on a thin vertical path. So in a way I went into reading him "blind". I suppose the thing about Sexton that, to me, makes her different from, say, Plath, is a constant recurring need to deflate: it seems that any time that an idea is broached that hints at the romantic, the ideal, the sublime, the transcendent, the following line always violently flattens, deflates, brings us back down to earth. Shiny wings, you are choosers of colour. By day the skyscraper looms in the smoke and sun and has a soul.

A young watchman leans at a window and sees the lights of barges butting their way across a harbor, nets of red and white lanterns in a railroad yard, and a span of glooms splashed with lines of white and blurs of crosses and clusters over the sleeping city. What are seeds? No matter where one starts reading, "Devotions" offers much to love, from Oliver's exuberant dog poems to selections from the Pulitzer Prize-winning "American Primitive," and "Dream Work," one of her exceptional collections. She only said, "My life is dreary, He cometh not," she said; She said, "I am aweary, aweary; I would that I were dead! Cummings to be published sincethree years before his death.

Forefingers and thumbs will point casually toward it. The sign speaks till midnight. He's fun, he's frolicsome Ashberry ranges across a wide spectrum of late twentieth century preoccupations, for example Decoy finds him, in an infrequent posture, protesting politically: We hold these truths to be self-evident: That ostracism, both political and moral, has Its place in the twentieth-century scheme of things; That urban chaos is the problem we have been seeing into and seeing into, For the factory, deadpanned by its very existence into a Descending code of values, has moved right across the road from total financial upheaval And caught regression head-on. I hear them deep inside me, whispering oh what is that beautiful thing that just happened?

He is recognized on the one hand as the author of some of the most beautiful lyric poems written in the English language, and on the other as one of the most inventive American poets of his time.

She was terribly depressed for much of her life, and such a pessimistic attitude to life can be seen within her writing. I have guns and a drum, a jumping-jack and a magic lantern.

And some of the Nature poems I enjoyed, although they were all rather pessimistic in feel. They are out of the game, Which doesn't exist until they are out of it. He's fun, he's frolicsome Poem after poem seemed to be about women - beautiful, passive women - and full of the poet's melancholy, and feelings of aching desolation.

What are seeds? Ten-dollar-a-week stenographers take letters from corporation officers, lawyers, efficiency engineers, and tons of letters go bundled from the building to all ends of the earth. By day the skyscraper looms in the smoke and sun and has a soul.

Darkness on the hallways. I dip my cupped hands. That's what it means to be crazy. From Self-portrait in a convex mirror, consider this rich allusive, self-mocking, lacerating, despairing metaphysical meditation, which abruptly and furiously lashes out at its own postmodernist frame: Our time gets to be veiled, compromised By the portrait's will to endure.

And when has creative man not toiled deep in myth? The corrected texts established by George J. His reputation recovered in the 19th Century, and decisively in the 20th, when he was finally recognised as one of the greatest lyric poets of the Caroline era, an era, moreover, when England was well supplied with fine poets - Herrick's contemporaries include Shakespeare, Jonson, Marvell, Donne, Herbert, Vaughan, Lovelace, Suckling, Carew and many others.

It's like she's saying, "You think romance exists? And no hands will polish the gun, and it will hang on the wall. I have a wagon and the wheels gone upstairs. And what abstraction would you exchange for this one? She was terribly depressed for much of her life, and such a Emily Dickinson is one of my favourite poets; she is the gothic queen of poetry.

Happy letter!
